Cloudonix

Set up Cloudonix as your telephony provider for SIP-native outbound and inbound voice calls with zoxaAI.

What you'll learn

How to configure Cloudonix as a telephony provider in zoxaAI, including the Domain ID format, automatic Voice Application creation, and TwiML-compatible call control.

Cloudonix

Cloudonix is a SIP-native communications platform. zoxaAI integrates with Cloudonix using its TwiML-compatible (CXML) interface for both outbound and inbound calling, making it a drop-in alternative for SIP-native infrastructure.

Application NameCloudonix dashboard > Voice ApplicationsNoNoA Voice Application name. If left blank, zoxaAI auto-creates one on save.

Setup

Open the Telephony Page

Navigate to Telephony in the zoxaAI sidebar.

Add a New Configuration

Click Add Configuration. Select Cloudonix from the provider dropdown.

Enter Your Credentials

Paste your Bearer Token and Domain ID. The Domain ID can be entered in either format:

  • Short form: mydomain
  • Full form: mydomain.cloudonix.net

zoxaAI automatically appends .cloudonix.net if it is not already present.

Configure Application Name (optional)

Leave the Application Name blank to have zoxaAI auto-create a Voice Application. Or enter an existing application name if you prefer to manage it yourself.

Name and Save

Give the configuration a name (e.g., "Cloudonix Production") and click Save.

Add Phone Numbers (DNIDs)

Right after you save, zoxaAI opens the new configuration and fetches the phone-number DNIDs (Dialed Number IDs) on your Cloudonix domain. Click Add next to the ones you want, or Add all. You can fetch again any time with Fetch from Cloudonix in the Phone Numbers section.

Pattern DNIDs (prefixes, expressions, Asterisk-style patterns) are not listed. Add those, and SIP addresses, by hand with Add phone number.

Domain ID Format

You can enter the Domain ID in either short or full form:

InputStored As
mydomainmydomain.cloudonix.net
mydomain.cloudonix.netmydomain.cloudonix.net

zoxaAI normalizes the Domain ID automatically on save.

Auto-Created Application

When you do not provide an Application Name, zoxaAI automatically creates a Cloudonix Voice Application during the save process. The auto-created application has:

  • Name: zoxa-<random-id> (e.g., zoxa-a3b2c1d4e5f6)
  • Type: cxml (TwiML-compatible)
  • URL: https://your-domain.com/api/v1/telephony/run
  • Method: POST

This means inbound calls work immediately for any DNID bound to the auto-created application.

Outbound Calls

Cloudonix uses a TwiML-compatible interface for call control. Audio streams use the same WebSocket protocol as Twilio Media Streams in audio/x-mulaw;rate=8000 format, making Cloudonix a drop-in alternative for SIP-native infrastructure.

SourceDescription
Test callsPlace a test call from the agent editor
API callsUse POST /api/v1/call with your API key
CampaignsBulk outbound dialing across a contact list

Inbound Calls

Cloudonix fully supports inbound calling. If you used the auto-created application, inbound calls work immediately.

If you are using a pre-existing Voice Application, configure it manually:

Open Cloudonix Dashboard

Go to the Cloudonix dashboard and navigate to your domain's Voice Applications.

Set Application URL

Set the application:

  • URL: https://your-domain.com/api/v1/telephony/run
  • Method: POST
  • Type: CXML

Assign an Agent

In the zoxaAI dashboard, go to Telephony > your Cloudonix configuration and open the phone number (or add it). Select the agent that should answer in the Inbound target dropdown and save.

See Inbound Calling for the full inbound routing guide.
